Best practices for Storyboarding in Instructional Design

Storyboarding is an important step in the instructional design process as it helps to visually organize and plan the content and flow of a lesson or training program. Here are a few best practices for storyboarding in instructional design:

Use a Consistent Layout

Create a template for your storyboard that includes all of the necessary elements, such as images, text, and multimedia. This will make it easier for your clients to read and understand.

Include Multimedia

Use images, videos, and other multimedia elements to make the storyboard more engaging and add visual interest.

Use a Linear Progression

Organize the storyboard in a logical and linear progression, moving from one step to the next.

Be Detailed

Include as much detail as possible in the storyboard, including text, images, and multimedia elements. This will help to ensure that the final product is consistent with the storyboard.

Test it Out

Once the storyboard is complete, test it out by having a few people walk through it to ensure that it makes sense and that it meets the learning objectives.

Get Feedback

Share the storyboard with subject matter experts and other stakeholders to get feedback. It will help to improve the final product.
